Ammodo Science promotes and supports independent scientific research. The programme is implemented through the Ammodo Science Awards and the Ammodo Science Fellowship. These awards provide funding to scientists in different stages of their career and to both individuals and research groups in four scientific domains: Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Biomedical Sciences.
ammodo science fellowship
The Ammodo Science Fellowship offers talented scientists the opportunity to conduct innovative research at a (foreign) knowledge institution.
Candidates
PhD graduates and postdocs who aspire to a career in science, and
- have obtained their PhD (0-5 years ago) at a Dutch knowledge institution and wish to conduct research at a world-class foreign host institution, or;
- have obtained a bachelor's or master's degree from a Dutch knowledge institution, completed their PhD (0-5 years ago) at a foreign knowledge institution, and wish to conduct research at a world-class Dutch host institution.
Domains
Biomedical Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
Budget
The total budget for the Fellowship amounts to a maximum of €800,000 per edition. The individually awarded Fellowships can range from a minimum of €50,000 to a maximum of €200,000.

The Ammodo Science Award for fundamental research offers excellent mid-career scientists the opportunity to conduct pioneering fundamental scientific research.
Candidates
Excellent mid-career scientists (5-15 years after PhD) of international acclaim who are capable of making an innovative contribution to independent fundamental scientific research, and are affiliated with a Dutch knowledge institution.

Biomedical Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
Budget
Per edition the Award consists of eight prizes of €350,000 each. The Award is granted to a maximum of two laureates per domain.
ammodo science award
The Ammodo Science Award for groundbreaking research stimulates internationally recognised scientific research that is conducted collaboratively. The Award is intended to fund new (potentially) groundbreaking research.
Candidates
Research groups that conduct internationally recognised, high-quality, and groundbreaking research and are affiliated with a Dutch knowledge institution.
Domains
Biomedical Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Budget
Per edition the Award consists of prizes of €1,600,000 for each of the domains of Biomedical Sciences and Natural Sciences, and €800,000 for each of the domains of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Award is granted to a maximum of one research group per domain.
